Warm-Up Postures

Warm-up poses include little movements of the various body parts and are very useful to improve flexibility without suffering any injury. So with a good warm-up session, one can perform intermediate and advanced postures easily.

Surya Namaskar (Sun Salutation)

No Yoga Practice is complete without the Surya Namaskar. It’s a whole-body stretching practice. With the traditional style of Surya Namaskar, we salute the sun and feel energetic like the sun.

Hip Openers

Many people suffer from stiff hip muscles. For them, the hip opener exercises are very beneficial.

Standing Postures

Standing postures increase the strength of the body and tone the leg and hip muscles which make them strong.

Sitting Postures

Sitting postures improve blood circulation around the hips, spine, and shoulders and increase flexibility helping keep joints and ligaments much more flexible.

Back Bending Postures

Back bending Postures stretch the front body to a great extent and increase the blood circulation in the spine making it more flexible.

Forward Bending Postures

Forward bending postures stretch the back and tone the belly.

Twisting Postures

Twisting postures work on hip muscles and increase the blood circulation around the spine.

Inverted Postures

Inverted postures calm the mind and increase blood circulation within the body.

Food & Dining

Adhering to the ancient science of ‘Ayurveda’ we, at the Rishikesh Yog Nirvana serve vegetarian “Sattvic” food. Certain types of foods, especially non-vegetarian food causes considerable harm to the body if consumed excessively. They increase fat and raise cholesterol levels causing significant damage to the heart. On the other hand, Sattvic food is easy to digest and low on fat and cholesterol.

Sattvic food being easy to digest helps calm the mind bringing inner peace. Such food makes an individual compassionate and kind. That learning yoga at the ashram has felt no need for non-vegetarian food after only a few weeks. It has helped them focus on life and made them spiritually stronger.
